Professionally trained counsellors meet with individuals to deal with a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, anger, grief, self esteem and stress management.
Counselling is a process by which an individual (children, youth, adult, senior), with the help of a trained professional, learns to better understand their thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. With this enhanced understanding they are able to explore new and/or better ways of coping with the challenges in their lives.
There are many approaches to counselling. Our counsellors integrate a variety of approaches depending on the client and their needs. Generally, we practice short-term, solution-focused therapy.
It is very important that a person feel comfortable, safe, accepted, and supported by their counsellor. The counsellor-client relationship is built on trust and mutual respect.
Everything about our services is confidential. No information is shared with another party without the written consent of the client. Except in situations as required by law: if there is danger of the client seriously harming themselves or someone else; if there is suspected abuse or neglect of a child, a senior, or a disabled person; if the court subpoenas a file.
Our standard fee for a one hour session is $100. However, fees may be subsidized and are charged based on the household's income and number of dependants. Applicants can make an appointment with our financial manager and provide proof of income prior to thier session. Subsidization is made possible through the generous contributions of the Department of Social Development and the United Way of Central New Brunswick.
Twenty-four hour notice is required to cancel an appointment. Appointments that are missed without adequate notice must pay our regular fee before booking a new appointment..
Many insurance programs cover counselling services. Each plan is unique so the client needs to know what his/her plan covers and what limitations, if any, apply.
